Over the past decade the number of electric vehicles on Britain’s roads has increased dramatically with around 2,300 electric and 128,100 hybrid cars being registered since 1993. According to Thatcham, the motor insurers’ automotive research centre, emergency services need to adapt and train for the new challenges that these vehicles present, or risk potentially severe consequences in rescue situations.
