Dominic Cartwright has joined Prodrive Composites as managing director.  Cartwright, who was previously managing director at Banbury-based CTG, part of UTC Aerospace Systems, is targeting significant growth for Prodrive in the aerospace sector, where he has a strong background.  With a degree in aeronautical engineering he has held senior roles at Goodrich Corporation, Smiths Aerospace and TRW Aerospace Systems.

Federal-Mogul has produced 128 bearings for the Hardanger Fjord Bridge in Norway using its DEVA bearing technology


Stadtallendorf, Germany, February 5, 2013
... Federal-Mogul Corporation (FDML: NASDAQ) has developed maintenance-free bearings for one of the world’s longest suspension bridges. On completion in 2013, the Hardanger Fjord Bridge in south west Norway will be one of the largest in the world, spanning 1,310 metres between pylons. A total of 128 spherical plain bearings using Federal-Mogul’s DEVA self-lubricating material technology will accommodate the small but essential movements that occur under load between the carriageway and its supporting cables.

New production processes increase throughput and efficiency

Technology consultancy and precision-manufacturing specialist Prodrive has doubled the size of its composites facility, moving from motorsport-sized manufacturing batches to runs of several thousand. The expansion is driven by the company’s recent contract wins with three highly-demanding manufacturers of premium sports cars. When added to established defence, marine and aerospace customers, Prodrive’s composites business now has an order book worth more than £40 million.

Bad Camberg, Germany (04/07/2011) – Federal-Mogul Corporation (NASDAQ:FDML) is developing brake blocks that use advanced composite materials as part of a research program that aims to significantly reduce the noise generated by rail freight. By accelerating the technical and commercial development of composite brake blocks that are compatible with existing rolling stock, the German government-sponsored LäGiV project could reduce rolling noise by half.
