Federal-Mogul?s patented LKZ oil control ring improves fuel economy and emissions by reducing oil consumption by up to 50 percent and friction by up to 15 percent Tuesday, 1st February 2011

Federal-Mogul has four products named as finalists in the 2011 Automotive News PACE technology awards, the most nominations achieved by a supplier in a single year. The technologies, currently being implemented at the OE level, will be introduced to the aftermarket through Federal-Mogul’s five Expert Engine Brands: Nüral pistons and assemblies; Glyco engine bearings and bushings; Goetze piston rings and line; AE valve, cam train and belts; and Payen sealing products.

Ultra high-precision manufacturing systems at Delphi?s Stonehouse plant Thursday, 27th January 2011

A Gloucestershire high technology manufacturing plant is holding an open day at its factory during National Apprenticeship Week

Stonehouse, UK — Global automotive parts manufacturer Delphi Automotive is opening its doors to pupils and school leavers on February 10, 2011 to help attract new apprentices to its Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering. School parties will be able to visit the plant from 12pm to 8pm to speak to current apprentices, take a guided tour of Delphi’s state of the art manufacturing facility and hear more about the skills and qualifications they can acquire during the four-year apprenticeship. This year, the plant is looking for technical apprentices as well as craft apprentices, and has 12 places available for its August intake.

Uprated suspension modules preserve hatchback agility while adding all-terrain capability

Global braking and chassis systems specialist BWI Group has developed larger, sturdier suspension modules to suit crossover vehicles developed on sporting and premium compact platforms. The upgrades to the gas-filled dampers provide greater all-terrain capability and increased load-carrying capacity while maintaining the inherent agility of the base vehicle. The first application is the MINI Countryman crossover.

British logistics firm celebrates ten years of exceptional growth   Print

Emergency logistics specialist Evolution Time Critical has recorded the most successful year of its first decade of trading, with revenues of more than £12m. The firm reports that these figures are at least 30 percent higher than any previous year, and 50 percent higher than 2009 revenues. Evolution’s founders identified a gap in the market for a high-end time critical logistics service in 2001, and have steadily built the company’s global reputation over the past ten years. It now supports multi-national car manufacturers around the clock with emergency deliveries of components to production lines worldwide, helping them to avoid stoppage fees of up to €1m per hour.
