Next-generation brake blocks could reduce noise levels by half

Bad Camberg, Germany (04/07/2011) – Federal-Mogul Corporation (NASDAQ:FDML) is developing brake blocks that use advanced composite materials as part of a research program that aims to significantly reduce the noise generated by rail freight. By accelerating the technical and commercial development of composite brake blocks that are compatible with existing rolling stock, the German government-sponsored LäGiV project could reduce rolling noise by half.

The Vulcan To The Sky Trust (VTST) text donation service has been improved, to significantly increase the return for the Vulcan and make it easier to use.  After much consideration and consultation, the decision has been taken to increase the level of standard donation from £3 to £5.  Supporters can help keep the Vulcan flying by simply texting VULCAN to 70558.

Iconic aircraft returns to thrill fans at world renowned celebration of speed

£110,000 needed now to help the last flying Vulcan fly in 2011

XH558, the last flying Vulcan, will thrill crowds at the Goodwood Festival of Speed at 13:00 on Sunday   3rd July.  The aircraft gave a show-stopping display in 2010 and has once again been invited to bring its unique spectacle to the thousands of fans that make the annual pilgrimage to the world famous event.  July 1st, the opening day of the Goodwood Festival of Speed main event marks XH558’s ‘birthday’; it was on this day in 1960 that she was delivered to RAF Waddington to begin active service.
