The world’s only flying Vulcan will open the world’s leading airshow with the Red Arrows - sixty years after the prototype Vulcan’s sensational first Farnborough appearance

 

Sixty years after the prototype Vulcan’s first dramatic appearance at the famous Farnborough International Airshow (trade days July 9-12, public days July 13-15), the last flying example of the iconic all-British aircraft will open the 2012 event in formation with the Red Arrows. After a long association with the show, starting when the prototype aircraft stunned audiences with a surprise appearance in 1952, this year’s Farnborough could well be the last at which a Vulcan will fly.

SOUTHFIELD, Michigan, July 2, 2012…..Federal-Mogul Corporation (NASDAQ: FDML) today announced a definitive agreement to purchase the BERU spark plug business from BorgWarner Inc.  The transaction is pending customary closing conditions and consultations, including competition authorities.  The purchase includes spark plug manufacturing sites at Chazelles sur Lyon, France and Neuhaus, Germany.  The acquired units will add approximately $80 million annualized sales and increase Federal-Mogul’s annual spark plug production capacity to more than 350 million per year.  The two locations employ approximately 500 personnel.
