Innovative coating from proven technologies provides step change

Federal-Mogul Corporation (NASDAQ: FDML) has applied its class-leading IROX® polymer bearing technology to bronze bearing shells to deliver increased durability and efficiency improvements for heavy duty diesel engines. The IROX polymer overlay's exceptional wear resistance supports CO2 reduction by enabling new engine management strategies, such as stop-start features. Combined with a new lead-free bronze substrate, the new bearings are capable of handling specific loads up to 80MPa in highly boosted engines and provide extended durability in even the most arduous applications. Developed initially for highly loaded main bearing and connecting rod big end applications in the truck sector, the new bearings can also be applied to combustion engines in agriculture, off-highway and mining.

Branded Nanodrive because of the use of innovative nanotechnology, the lubricants improve fuel consumption and increase engine performance by reducing friction. The new range, which includes engine and transmission oils, uses microscopic nanoparticles that act like minute ball bearings between opposing metal surfaces.
